- The Friends Group was organized in the summer of 1984 and became incorporated on 10/1/84. It was granted 501(c)(3) status in Sept. of 1989, having its own by-laws, tax exempt status, and Board of Directors.
- Currently there are 84 members, including families and individuals
- There are quarterly meetings, usually on Tuesdays at 4 pm.
- Book sales are ongoing with donated books (the majority are within the last 5 years) for all ages in the entrance way and DVDs, CDs, and recorded books on the counter inside. Proceeds go toward providing additional copies of very popular material, replacing/repairing old equipment and furniture, additional computers, shelving, large print books, and supporting the Summer Reading programs for adults and youth.
The twelve member Board of Directors supports the Library Staff in providing programs that inspire the love of life-long learning and enrich the library experience for all. Membership is open to individuals of all ages.
Some of our accomplishments have been to provide funding for Summer Reading programs for all ages, augment the County book and audio-visual budgets, donate to the funds to increase the number of downloadable materials, and partnered with the Clemmons Kiwanis Club and Village of Clemmons to purchase computers and preschool educational computer games.
