Fine particle concentrations continue to be near the Code Green/Yellow threshold on Saturday and ozone is much lower in the mid Code Green range. An upper-level low will continue to spin over the Ohio Valley for the next several days before weakening by Tuesday. A cold front looks to sweep through on Monday, bringing in some drier air that that when combined with increasing sunshine, will lead to conditions that are conducive for ozone formation. By Tuesday, ozone readings are expected to reach the lower Code Yellow range. Rainfall today and tonight is expected to cleanse enough particle pollution from the atmosphere to promote Code Green readings tomorrow and on Monday with the frontal passage. As winds begin to lighten on Tuesday and we continue to pull from a continental air mass, particle pollution concentrations are expected to climb back into the lower Code Yellow range. (Perrotte)
