The Forsyth County Public Library has received a grant of $10,000 from the Winston-Salem Foundation in support of a project benefiting foreign language speaking patrons in our community. This project targets two areas of need:
Urban libraries need foreign language materials that reflect their diverse communities. Spanish language materials for a variety of age groups, and covering a variety of interests, will be distributed among all library locations. Bestsellers in translation, cookbooks, and children’s picturebooks represent some of the new materials purchased through this grant. In addition, the Central Library will host a new collection in a variety of foreign languages (French, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese) to serve its changing immigrant population.
As Forsyth County’s population diversifies, the Winston Salem Foundation and the Library are invested in supporting the informational and educational needs of new members to our community.
