Nonprofit Resource Center (NRC)
The NRC is a Funding Information Network Partner, affiliated with the Foundation Center in New York City. The NRC offers information on nearly every facet of the nonprofit sector. Visit our Nonprofit Resource Center page for additional information.
African-American History and Literature
We offer a comprehensive collection covering every aspect of the African-American experience.
Small Business Center
Entrepreneurs and small business owners benefit from this special collection of books and periodicals on business start-up and management. Many resources for the small business, such as Reference USA, are available electronically from our Online Resources page. Personal Finance
In addition to the latest books about investment and finance, the department subscribes to over 30 investment newsletters including Value Line, Morningstar Reports, Investor's Business Daily, and S&P Outlook. The Wall Street Journal and Morningstar Investment Research Center, among other online resources, are available electronically to Library cardholders. Jobs and Careers
Our career collection brings together resources on many career options, training opportunities, financial aid and scholarship information, as well as information on colleges. Visit our Survive & Thrive page for additional information about jobs and careers.
Adult Literacy
This collection offers beginning reading resources to tutors and adult learners. Online skills improvement resources and preparation for tests, such as the GED, ASVAB and SAT, are available through the Learning Express Library, accessible through our Online Resources page.
Literary Criticism
Looking for information about a particular author or literary work? The library’s literary criticism collection offers a broad range of print and electronic resources designed to provide critical analysis and background information on a wide range of authors and works.
Homework
Students at the Middle School and High School levels will find specialized collections of books and materials to help them excel with their schoolwork. The Library provides access to a variety of subscription databases aimed at helping students with homework. The databases through our Online Resources page are available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Live Homework Help is also available online.
Computers
The Information Services department has eight public access workstations that can be used for research, homework, job-seeking, and business work. These research workstations provide full Internet access, word processing, presentation programs, a typing tutorial program, and access to Library databases. Typewriters are also available for public use.
Online Resources
FCPL provides access to subscription databases through our website’s Online Resources page. Online resources include databases and websites, such as NC LIVE, GaleNet, ReferenceUSA, and other authoritative references.
