Birth, Death and Marriage Records
The Register of Deeds offices in North Carolina are responsible for filing and issuing copies of births and deaths
that occur in their county. There is one county that issues copies of these records through their health department
(view
their contact information).
A marriage license may be obtained from any county in North Carolina that is convenient to you. The ceremony can
then be held anywhere in North Carolina. After the ceremony, the license must be returned to the county where the

We are often asked by our customers to record and/or certify copies of birth, death, and marriages from other
counties, states, or countries. North Carolina law does not allow for us to do this. You must obtain copies of your records
