Children's Room - (336) 703-3040
FIRST FLOOR - Children's librarians are interested in helping you find what
you need. Do you want to learn about a Venus fly trap, find joke books, read an
award-winning story, get an idea for a science project, find a cookbook, read about
Abraham Lincoln or Michael Jordan, or check-out Where the Sidewalk Ends just one
more time? We can help you make the connection. Don't be shy, ask us.

Collection
Our books, tapes, and CDs inform and entertain youth from infancy through age 13.
Laptime books, early readers, folk and fairy tales and a variety of chapter books
will provide you with journeys of wonder! Nonfiction titles can satisfy your curiosity
about that bug in the back yard or answer your teacher's toughest homework assignment.
Tapes and CDs with music and recorded stories round out a collection that is built
with YOU in mind.
Children's Room Programs
Throughout the year, toddler and preschool programs are offered in the department.

Storytime at the Library
Bring your toddler or preschooler to any branch of Forsyth County Public Library
to enjoy Storytime. Each location offers interesting stories along with other fun
events and activities that make listening, reading and learning fun and enjoyable.
Check with each location for exact times.
Computers
Along with our online catalog computers, we have one early literacy station and
two game computers (made available through a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation) that feature educational software, plus four Internet work stations
with a word processing program. Children 18 months to 13 years old are eligible
to use the Gates computers for up to 30 minutes per session. You can choose from
dozens of games, interactive stories, and exploratory programs. Learning has never
been so much fun! The four Internet stations are for children 13 and younger and
may be used in 1 hour sessions. To use any of our computers, sign up with the Librarian
at the Children's Room desk.
Summer Reading
We had a great time this summer with "Make a Splash" @ your library! There were
pirates, and crazy balloon sculptures, silly stories, fun games, and prizes. Make
sure to join us Summer 2011 as we travel around the world with books.
For more information, contact your favorite branch and speak to a Youth Services
Librarian.
